Academy Awards

Tonight is another awards ceremony.
Gotta love them.
Especially the REAL ones.
Now we know there are MILLIONS of awards shows.
BUT...the Academy Awards are truly awesome awards.
Oscar is 80 years old.
Jon Stewart is pretty funny as the host.
As usual I haven't seen most of the movies,
but I have seen Juno which I enjoyed.
Jack Nicholson is an awards favorite.
I thought about how weird it will be when he is gone.

I haven't seen No Country for Old Men.

A Beautiful Mind?

Just to show you how a middle school teacher's mind works...

This is Eric.

He is on my team.

He had this great idea:

Have the kids make a Peeps Project for our homerooms.

So, Eric decided to make a flyer for the kids.

He puts the instructions on the flyer

as well as THIS PICTURE!!!

We middle school teachers are a STRANGE BREW!

I'll take pictures when we get finished products.

This should be a fun project.

I guess I mostly wanted you to know that

while I may seem strange to YOU,

I TOTALLY fit in with the crew at work.

Oprah Mumbo-Jumbo

I am often times annoyed by how Oprah thinks she is a god.
Listening to her talk about her latest Book Club book, The New Earth, made me curious as to what this was all about. I read the book excerpt:

Building on the astonishing success of The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle takes us beyond our own lives to show that we now have an opportunity to birth a new. more loving world. This involves a radical inner leap of consciousness from the current identification with our ego to an entirely new way of thinking about who we are. For this to happen, the very structures of the human mind would need to undergo an evolutionary transformation.In A New Earth, Tolle shows how this transformation can occur not only in ourselves, but in the world around us. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. He then gently and in very practical terms leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are, which is infinitely greater than anything we currently think we are.

Mostly it just makes me sad that people look for the meaning of life in all sorts of places, but never see the true answer that is Jesus Christ!
The savior who died on the cross to take away the sins of the world. The man who sacrificed his own life so that we may have eternal life. All we have to do is ask that he be our personal Savior. Then there is no need to look any further. It is not about illuminating our states of consciousness that can give us an answer to the meaning of life.

Stardust

The movie, Stardust, is amazing movie!
I don't know if any of you have seen this movie, but I think it is becoming my new Princess Bride.
This movie has sorcery, fighting, mystery, romance, it's out of this world.
I highly recommend you see this.
I think anybody over 10 would enjoy this movie.
It does have a PG-13 rating, but it is very tame.
If you DO end up seeing it, let me know.
I want to know if others think this movie is as good as I do!
